Courtney defines Black Hats and White Hats
JUMPSEC’s Courtney Cole explains what black hats and white hats are in this week’s edition of our Jargon Buster series.
“A Blackhat is a person who uses programming skills to cause damage to a computer system, steal data and in general conduct illegal cyber activities. A Whitehat is a person who uses their hacking skills for an ethical purpose. Businesses will often hire these individuals to test their cybersecurity capabilities.”
